I am going to preface this by saying, I still love you. It’s not you, it’s me. I simply cannot fit you all in.
Ok, Phew. I needed to get that off my chest. Packing my whole life into just two (gorgeous) bags and a box, has not been an easy feat. Every day, I re-open the bags, get rid of some more, “Oh, but I love this shirt. I got it when I was in…. THROW IT OUT!”. Yes, you guessed it, I am the sentimental type. So, this experience has been the more difficult one for me. However, I found joy and calmness in one thing. Vacuum bags! Oh boy, they are great. There is something satisfying about cramming as many clothes as possible into a little plastic bag and watch them be sucked down to nothing.
I will, however, make one little excuse for my difficulty in packing, and that is the fact that I will need to lockdown for 14 days in my apartment. So this has meant one entire bag simply houses linen, towels and other necessities for my first few days. As an Opera Singer, I also have to take quite a few dresses too. Out of the 15 or so gowns I own, I could only take 4. A blue sequin dress, simple black and blue dresses, and my gold sequin dress. My performance jewellery, stage shoes and my hair piece are also all packed, so I’ll be ready to take the stage as soon as I can.
I also have some sentimental items to help kick homesickness to the curb. Some polaroid photos, recipes from family, a couple of cards, and Connie The Koala – the cutest artwork you’ll ever see (I will post her when I’m set up).
Count down is on. 4 days to go.
